Hello Bimmer M316!
Well, not the E36 you could imagine though. I always loved the BMW's from the 90's era (series 3, 5, 7, the beautiful 850) and the need for a daily was the ideal time to own one. I didn't care so much about the form of the car (coupe, compact etc) and even a station wagon was considered as choice! After some examples we inspected, we chose a 1994 black sedan, straight imported by a Greek man living in Germany. That meant quite more equipment than the examples bought from Greece, like bi-zonal air-contitioning and electric/heated mirrors. As for its condition?
My main concern was the engine, as the car was abandoned for almost two years and, before that was used by eldery people, occasionally. The speedo had already recorded 289k kilometers when purchased and after a good maintenance, everything seems ok with that. On the outside, a full paintjob and some body work are essential, but on the inside things were worse. Destroyed seats and door cards, along with broken plastic parts and non working interior lights that work along with the central locking, became a nightmare!
You may ask why. If you consider that the car was bought in late November and until the year's change wasn't legally mine (greek laws and rules, sometimes without logic at all), the passenger cabin in total mess and the little rolla almost moving with engine problems surfacing day by day, the mixture was bad. Very bad, to be exact.
While those lines are posted, the interior is almost ready with new seats, refurbished door cards/headliner, some parts as the ICE of the rolla moved to the bimmer and its central locking along with the interior lights, are fixed. Next steps? A new set of wheels, the whole exterior restoration and possibly, a better/lowered suspension.
Remember, the main project is the little rolla. Not the bimmer!
