Project Update: New plans for 2024...?

Well, it's been a long time since the last update here. Mostly by lack of time, the project stepped back a lot, but also a major failure changed the whole project. So let's go back in August, in order to get the situation go from the starting point.

While on a short trip, with around 40 degrees Celcius and about 170+ km/h on the speedo, the headgasket blow. Luckily, water and oil didn't mix up, but the way back home (around 60 kilometers, all with the car rolling!) caused some more damage to our cylinder head, between cyl. 1 and 2. Pistons, rods and the whole engine block remained intact.

As a result, the choices were two:

- a full, complete repair of the engine (new comlpete head, bolts, gasket etc).

- a short-living repair, with new gasket but without any trust on the old-repaired head.

(The bad luck of that failure? I had almost gathered all the parts from a Starlet GT, in order to boost the engine. Expectations were around 125 hp with a stock CT9, on a low budget and as much safe as it could be. Actually, the idea was given by another project, but with smaller turbo. More on that, on a future post, I promise!)

Already from 2020, I wanted a new daily car, in order to convert the Rolla into a proper trackday car. So, the choice was quite predictable. The second solution was chosen, until the purchase of the new daily. And, as those lines are online, the new ride sits along her... But more on that, on another post!

What about now, then? As we speak, nothing at all. Or, to be honest, the engine possibly has blown up again, but needs to be checked the next months. Our priority, as we speak, is to get the daily project on the road ASAP.

In conclusion, 2024 won't find us racing (?), but preparing for the new role of the car. A complete interior stripping, some essential jobs for the trackday use and, a new engine...

Wishes for a happy new year, see you online in 2024. It's gonna be a tough season for both projects!
